This is the third incarnation of what should, at least based on the age of the music, be classed as the ‘original’ Jukebox Musical.

The musicals are written to feature the songs in the popular CD series of 60s music re-releases.

The story by the famous writers Marks & Gran tells of Bobby and Laura, who in the first one meet and fall in Love, in the second they have their problems but get back together. When we find them in this third story Laura is riding high as a performer but Bobby is back with the guys at the youth club, and the stresses of being apart provide the impetus for this story. I won’t spoil it by going into more detail. I will say go and see this show as I loved it.

Those more observant readers amongst you may have noticed that this is another of those actor/musician shows. Again it just blows my mind that the cast act, sing and play (in some cases multiple) instruments.

I love the 1960s music anyway, add to that the comedy of two great writers and this is a no brainer for me to go to every tour.

I should have mentioned that there has been another show Dreamboats and Miniskirts by the same writers but featuring different characters.

Stand out songs for me were: “lipstick on your collar”, “sealed with a kiss”, “make it easy on yourself” and “to sir with love”
