It was great to able to see this show again. I was lucky to see the original London run before the Covid closure of the West End. At the time I was sure I would return the next year as I enjoyed it so much. But life had other plans.

This touring production looked to me to be the same staging as the London production with no noticeable reduction in quality.

The cast were excellent. I will admit to being a little disappointed when I heard the Lucie Jones had left the tour before it reached Wales (to play the Green witch in the West End) but I needn’t have worried as Chelsea, relatively unknown to me as I didn’t watch Emmerdale or Casualty was wonderful. So were all the cast to be honest. It wasn’t until I came to write this review that I noticed that Michael Starke (who I do remember from Brookside) was playing ‘Old Joe’.

This is not a show for the easily offended. Not that it is explicit as such but it definitely covers adult themes.

Stand out songs for me are “Take it from an old man” and of course “She used to be mine”

The tour has now ended but I really hope it is not too long before we get to see this show in some form again.
